Bank holidays in 2026 follow the Federal Reserve holiday schedule: it is closed on 10 days. On these days ACH, Fedwire and other Federal Reserve services do not settle. A holiday that falls on a Saturday is not moved to a weekday; one that falls on a Sunday is observed the following Monday.

How bank holidays work
The 12 Federal Reserve Banks close on the federal holidays, so payments that settle through them (ACH, Fedwire Funds and Securities, check clearing) wait for the next business day. The difference from the federal calendar is the weekend rule: a holiday that falls on a saturday is not moved to a weekday; one that falls on a sunday is observed the following monday. A Saturday holiday therefore gives no weekday off for banks, while federal offices close on the Friday before.
