How Missouri sets its holidays
These are the days off for Missouri state government employees (executive branch). They come from RSMo 9.010. Private employers, banks and schools in Missouri may follow their own schedules.
Weekend rule
A holiday that falls on a Saturday is observed the Friday before; one that falls on a Sunday is observed the following Monday.
In 2027, 4 holidays are observed on a different day because of the weekend: Truman Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, and Christmas Day.
Compared with the federal calendar
Missouri adds 2 holidays that the federal calendar does not have: Lincoln's Birthday and Truman Day.
Every federal holiday is also a Missouri holiday.
Listed under a Missouri name: Presidents' Day as “Washington's Birthday” and Juneteenth National Independence Day as “Juneteenth”.
The Governor usually closes offices on the Day after Thanksgiving (and sometimes Dec 24 or 26) by executive order; those days are not included.
